Building-Performance is proud to have worked alongside the Catholic Education Diocese of Townsville, Tony Madden Architects, Jackson Semler as the ESD consultant, GSAP and the ICA to achieve the highest possible Green Star Rating for the new school.
St. Benedict’s Catholic school opened in 2018, as a leading Best Practice Sustainable School and has recently received a Green Rating of 6 stars!
Using the Green Building Council of Australia’s Design & As Built v1.1 rating tool, St. Benedict’s, located in Shaw, Townsville is the first school in Australia to achieve the 6 Star rating.
The 6th Star was gained through achieving innovations in sustainable design, construction and operation of buildings, where the design team demonstrated initiatives that are innovative in both Australia and the world.
Sustainable innovations at the school include; engagement of a soft landings champion to monitor the ongoing building performance, a sustainable school recruitment policy, and the development of a Power BI dashboard enabling students real-time engagement with their daily sustainable practices.
